Skull Kid (Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask)
Availability: NFS

Majora's Mask has always been one of my favorite video games, and this is my love song to it. I mostly just wanted to make the mask, and making a Skull Kid costume seemed like a good excuse to do so. When designing the costume, I really wanted to retain the bright, surreal colors true to the game, but also give it a very rugged, realistic quality. Skull Kid lives in the forest, so it seemed appropriate to create the outfit from rough linens and avoid as much sewing as possible, fraying the edges and making the clothing appear dirty. In addition to the "bark" skin, I created oversized shoes and extra long fingers to give him his surreal, cartoonish proportions. The costume has gone through a few minor revisions for each convention, but overall I have been very happy with it, and the costume has received a lot of positive response.

For PAX Prime 2012 I modelled my friend's Majora Mask (the "game accurate" design) instead of my own ("modified beastial" design). I forgot my mask at home and it seemed like a good excuse to show off her work. ;)
